It was song and dance at Intimigom village in Kilgoris, Narok County as Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency commence the construction of multimillion Kilgoris and Lolgorian water project in the area 

Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Sicily Kariuki officiated the ground breaking ceremony of the project and witnessed by hundreds of jubilant residents and their leaders.Kilgoris and Lolgorian Water Supply and Sanitation project is expected to benefit hundreds of residents from Lolgorian and Kilgoris towns.

The main objective of the Project is to improve the access, quality, availability and sustainability of water services to approximately 28,000 people in the next ten years.In attendance also was the contractor, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd, expected to be complete the project in the next 18 months.While addressing the locals, the CS said Sh600million project meant alot to the people of Kilgoris and Lolgorian. "It' is an enable to social development in this region and we should not take it for granted. We understand what these women and their daughters go through daily to access useable water", She said. According to the CS, the hosting community should be supplied with water first to enable them carry on with their Livestock keeping and Agriculture before delivered in other places.Narok governor, Samuel Ole Tunai welcomed the project saying it was being implemented at the right moment.

The CS who was accompanied by Eng Wendot also inspected the newly constructed Narok sewerage system in Narok town and applauded the Agency for the works going on.The governor said his Government will ensure that nothing derail the project and thank the National Government for considering the county.

On his part, CRVWWDA Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Hosea K Wendot assured the CS and the community that the Agency will move with speed and deliver a quality project within the stipulated period.
In attendance also was CRVWWDA Board Chairman Brig Rtd Stephen Njung’e Kihu, County Commissioner among others.
The project is being financed by the African Development Bank and the Government of Kenya.
The project involves construction of the Intake, raw water main, pump station, conventional water treatment plant, laying of transmission mains, gravity mains to Kilgoris and Lolgorian, distribution mains and storage tanks.


Biggest beneficiary is the County Government of Narok while stakeholders include; the county commissioner, Narok County, Narok Water, Sewerage Company and residents of Kilgoris and Lolgorian among others.
CRVWWDA is implementing the project on behalf of Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency
The Kilgoris-Lolgorian Water and Sanitation project is part of the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (KTSWSSP) that is aimed at improving water supply and wastewater management services in multiple towns with a view of catalysing commercial activities, driving economic growth, improving quality of life of people and building resilience against climate variability and change.

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) is one of the nine (9) Water Works Development Agencies in Kenya and was formed under Section 65 of the Water Act, 2016. It was established through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4 dated 7thFebruary 2020. The region served by the Agency comprise of the five Counties of Nakuru, Narok, Laikipia, Baringo and Nyandarua.
