  • Amb.Boniface Kamanga Muhia - Chairman


    Amb.Boniface Kamanga Muhia holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from Egerton University- and numerous professional qualifications.

    Prior to his appointment as Board of Director’s Chairman, he served the country as the Deputy Ambassador and acting High Commissioner in Uganda and Tanzania respectively.

    During his tenure as both Acting High Commissioner to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Ambassador/Deputy High Commissioner to Kampala, Uganda, he was able to promote and protect Kenyan’s interest.

    He has also served as Branch Manager, UAP Provincial Insurance Company Ltd, Senior Marketing Officer, UAP Provincial Insurance Company Ltd and Office Administrator.

    Amb. Muhia brings to the board a wealth of experience in the managerial field with over 30 years’ experience in the Insurance industry during which he occupied senior positions and managed to run a successful Insurance brokerage company.

    He is Known for his effective team playing skills and capacity to mobilize towards achievement of a desired goals and objectives.

    Amb. Muhia is the executive director at Fortress Ventures Limited, a real estate company established in 2008. His responsibilities include directing and quidding the operations of the company with enormous experience of over 13-years period.

    Other responsibilities he has undertaken previously include; member, Rotary Club of Nakuru, Chairman, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Chairman, Ukombozi Sacco, (Deliverance Church), Chairman, Uhuru Primary School – Nakuru, Member of the Nakuru District Peace Committee, Member of the District Education Board – Nakuru District, Member of the Rift Valley Regional Council of the Order of St. John and Chairman, Nakuru Business Association.

  • Julius Kamau Muthanwa - Director


    Director Julius Kamau Muthanwa is a holder of Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Egerton University.

    Mr. Muthanwa was in 1990 awarded a law degree from University of Nairobi. Apart from this, he holds several academic certificates and awards from diverse professional bodies within and outside the country.

    Apart from many years of practicing law for many has served in several capacities in both the national and county Governments.
    Between 2015 and 2018, Mr Muthanwa who is the advocate court of Kenya was appointed County Executive Committee Member in charge of Department of Communication, Legal, ICT, Roads and Public Works by Nyandarua County Government.
    Since 1997, advocate Muthanwa has run a successful law firm based in Nakuru. Under his directorship the firm has tremendously grown over the years.

    He has also severed as legal Advisor to the Governor, Nyandarua County between 2014 to 2015 and as member, Nyandarua County Task force on Land, Planning and Development.
    Between 2005 and 2008, Muthanwa served as deputy chief legal officer- Ministry of Justice and Constitutional affairs.
    Mr Muthanwa apart from being a member Board at CRVWWDA, also sit in several Boards of Secondary schools and other Government institutions.

  • Dr. Cynthia J. Kipchillat - Director

    cynthiaBorn 57 years ago, Dr. Cynthia J. Kipchillat from Baringo County was appointed a member of the Board in 2021 by Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Sicily Kariuki for a period of three years.

    She holds a Doctor Degree (PhD) in International Business Administration from Florida, Nova Southeastern University and Master of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Science and Hospitality & Tourism Management from University of Wales in UK, among other academic qualifications.

    She is the current Chairperson at Emining Technical Training Institute, member of Medical Board at Egerton University among several other leadership appointments.
    Between 2017 and 2018, she lectured at Egerton University as a senior lecturer, founded the University’s Nairobi City Campus among other responsibilities.

    Director Cynthia also lecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology majoring on PhD students, Kabarak University from 2007-2014, Strayer University, MD, USA in 2005, Nova Southeastern University.
    Dr Kipchilat is currently consulting for several county Governments, serve as General Manager Agriculture Resource Center (ARC) and renown publisher of several academic books.

  • Hon.Samuel Mathenge Ndiritu - Director


    Hon. Samuel Mathenge Ndiritu

    Hon. Samuel Mathenge Ndiritu has a wealth of experience in Construction and Project management, spanning for many years aside from his political experience both as a one term Member of Parliament and under the ministry of water as a  founder director at Nakuru Rural Water and Sanitation Company (NARUWASCO).

    He holds a Bachelors of Construction Management Degree from Technical University of Kenya, Higher Diploma in Construction-Building Economics from Kenya Polytechnic and Diploma in Building from Mombasa Polytechnic.

    In the board, he chairs Corporate Services Committee and a also serve as a member of the Technical Services Committee. He represents the County of Nakuru at the Agency since his appointment on February 8th, 2019.

  • Lorna Timanoi Nkowua - Director


     Lorna Timanoi Nkowua

     Lorna Timanoi Nkowua is a strong defender of women rights and   currently serving in the Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Narok County Chapter where she also served as a councillor for ten years in the then Narok County. Director Lorna is  a teacher by profession.

    Mrs. Nkowua is a holder of numerous academic certificates from; Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, University of Georgia Carl Division and Queensway Secretarial College. Prior to joining CRVWWDA, she also worked at Kenya Times (currently Daily People), Biosphere International and the Ministry of Culture and Social Services.

    She is a member of both Corporate Services and Audit & Risk Management Committees at CRVWWDA and has been representing Narok County since her appointment on 8th, February 2019.

  • Peter Waweru - Director

    Mr. Peter Waweru joins the Board of Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency as an alternate director, representing the Principal Secretary, State Corporation. Mr. Waweru brings on board a vast knowledge in administration and management. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting option and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing option. He joined the Kenyan Civil Service in 1991 where he served in the now defunct Ministry of Local Government, with special duties in local authorities in what was former Central, Nyanza and Rift Valley Provinces. He was the Town Clerk to then Kikuyu Town Council and Clerk to Nyamira County Council. In 2003 he proceeded to the Office of the President in the Department of Inspectorate of State Corporation where he is currently serving at the level of Deputy Inspector General -Corporations.

  • Douglas Mutai - Director

    1Douglas Mutai 

    Mr. Douglas Mutai is a career civil servant who has worked with the Government of Kenya for more than 27 years as responsible Senior Civil servant in the field of National Government Administration.

    Mr Mutai holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Public Policy and Management from Mt. Kenya University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration and History from the University of Nairobi.

    For more than 25 years he worked as a Provincial Administrator to Senior Deputy County Commissioner in various parts of the country before being promoted in to the Senior Deputy Secretary – Ministry of Water Sanitation and Irrigation where he works to date. He is Alternate Director from the ministry and he brings to the Board of CRVWWDA a wide knowledge of administration and governance. He is a strict performer who is driven by achievements.

About Us

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) is one of the nine (9) Water Works Development Agencies in Kenya and was formed under Section 65 of the Water Act, 2016. It was established through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4 dated 7thFebruary 2020. The region served by the Agency comprise of the five Counties of Nakuru, Narok, Laikipia, Baringo and Nyandarua.
