On 21st January 2024, His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto commissioned the much anticipated Malaba Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Malakisi, Sirisia Sub-county.

The President who was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Zacharia Njeru and the Principal Secretary State Department for Water & Sanitation Julius Korir, the Agency’s Chairman Hon. Ndiritu Mathenge, CEO CPA Douglas Murei and other local leaders from both the National and County government of Bungoma and Malaba County appreciated the Project stating that the water project is but the begining of the Government innitiative to ensure kenyans have access to safe and clean water. The president further stated the govenment is currently sourcing funds from the African development Bank to actualize last mile connectivity.

The project will serve a total of 180,000 residents of Amagoro, Sirisia , Mwari, Kimaeti, kitabisi, betima, khulisiru, Nalondo, Malaba Kocholia, koteko and Amoni towns and their livestock.

The Government has already secured ksh 200 million to complete the last mile connectivity which will be under the incoming National Urban water and Sanitation Program.

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) is one of the nine (9) Water Works Development Agencies in Kenya and was formed under Section 65 of the Water Act, 2016. It was established through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4 dated 7thFebruary 2020. The region served by the Agency comprise of the five Counties of Nakuru, Narok, Laikipia, Baringo and Nyandarua.
